ABOUT ME
I was born and raised in the Greater Toronto Area after my parents immigrated from the Caribbean in the late 70's. Currently I call Durham Region home.
Armed with a Bachelor's Degree in Business Administration and a major in Information Technology I started my career in 2005 as a Business Systems Analyst. In this role I transformed cluttered business requirements into streamlined processes using technology and automation.
When my career pivoted in 2012, I took on the Commercial Real Estate industry by using my gifts of management, organization, and process improvement. My experience in managing a diverse campus of buildings to running a province-wide planning program has sharpened my eye for finding efficiencies and opportunities where others see obstacles.
I am a mother and a wife who believes everyone can live in a space that is pleasing to the senses and reflects the heart of those who live there. Creating an environment of elegance, form and function by decluttering, categorizing and organizing is why I created Form and Function by Kira. I am excited to streamline your lifestyle and create a space customized for how you use it.

November always feels like the month when we crave more calm and order — especially before the holidays and long winter months settle in. So I couldn’t think of a better time to share this transformation story from a client in Markham whose spare bedroom went from chaotic storage space to a peaceful, purpose-filled retreat.
My client is thoughtful, ambitious, and incredibly organized in her professional life — but like many of us, her home didn’t quite reflect the calm she wanted. She and her husband both have busy careers and recently moved into a beautiful executive townhouse. She’s also a professional dog sitter, highly rated online, so it’s not uncommon for her weekends to include a furry guest or two.
Even with all of this going on, she always dreamed of having one room just for herself — a space to stretch, meditate, read, or roll out her yoga mat in peace. But over time, the spare bedroom became the place where everything landed: extra toiletries, décor, workout equipment, storage bins, and anything they weren’t sure where to put. She told me she wanted to use the room, but every time she opened the door, she felt overwhelmed and didn’t know where to start.
So she called me.
The first step was emptying the room completely. Every box, tote, and drawer was unpacked — and that’s when the real work began. My client had a large collection of travel-sized beauty products. She keeps them to create thoughtful guest kits — little shampoos, lotions, and personal care items — especially for when nieces or overnight guests stay with them. It’s such a small gesture, but it speaks so much to who she is: caring, intentional, and generous.
But there were also expired items, duplicates, and products she forgot she even had. As I sat on the floor sorting through everything — beauty items, fitness gear, décor, miscellaneous gadgets — she admitted it felt “like a weight lifting” just to finally make progress. Sorting was time-consuming, but it turned chaos into clarity.
By the end, everything was grouped into categories:
Travel-sized toiletries and guest care items
Complete guest kits ready to use
Yoga and workout gear
Home décor and personal keepsakes
Once everything had a category and a purpose, the overwhelm faded — and the organizing could begin.
To make the space functional, peaceful, and easy to maintain, we created systems that fit her lifestyle:
Closet organization: We used simple, clear stackable bins on the existing closet shelf to store and categorize all her travel-sized products and guest supplies. Each bin was clearly labeled — hair products, skincare, oral care, guest kits, backups — so she can see exactly what she has and never overbuy.
Workout gear + décor: Her yoga and fitness pieces (mats, resistance bands, weights) were stored in her existing bins and tucked neatly inside the closet as well. Décor and keepsakes were also stored here — neat, accessible, but out of sight when she’s using the room.
Shelving in the room: We installed new wall shelving inside the room itself — not in the closet — so she can keep a few calming essentials visible: a plant, diffusers, a speaker, candles. It keeps her inspired, without cluttering the floor.
Clear floor space: With everything properly stored, the room is now wide open. The entire floor is free for yoga, meditation, stretching, or simply sitting quietly with a cup of tea.
What started as a room that caused stress and avoidance is now a space that brings calm. She told me she actually looks forward to going in there — it feels like breathing room in the middle of her busy life.
And the best part? The system is simple enough that she can maintain it even during her busiest weeks, even when she has guest dogs or nieces staying over.
