ABOUT ME
I was born and raised in the Greater Toronto Area after my parents immigrated from the Caribbean in the late 70's. Currently I call Durham Region home.
Armed with a Bachelor's Degree in Business Administration and a major in Information Technology I started my career in 2005 as a Business Systems Analyst. In this role I transformed cluttered business requirements into streamlined processes using technology and automation.
When my career pivoted in 2012, I took on the Commercial Real Estate industry by using my gifts of management, organization, and process improvement. My experience in managing a diverse campus of buildings to running a province-wide planning program has sharpened my eye for finding efficiencies and opportunities where others see obstacles.
I am a mother and a wife who believes everyone can live in a space that is pleasing to the senses and reflects the heart of those who live there. Creating an environment of elegance, form and function by decluttering, categorizing and organizing is why I created Form and Function by Kira. I am excited to streamline your lifestyle and create a space customized for how you use it.
I sincerely believe form is found when space is made functional.

December always feels like a natural time to slow down, reset, and create a sense of calm before the new year arrives. This month, I’m sharing a project that perfectly captures that feeling: my time with client, a dedicated nurse, community leader, and someone who deserved a bedroom that supported her busy life.
My client works rotating shifts—very early mornings and very late nights. Her goal was simple: get ready for work quietly without waking her husband, and actually enjoy her morning routine. But her primary bedroom didn’t make that easy.
She had beautiful cultural clothing, hijab scarves, jewelry, and bangles collected over years of participating in South Asian and Muslim community events. But all of those items were tucked here and there with no real system. Her closet worked… but not well. Her makeup area was a desk that never fully functioned as a “getting ready” zone. And her bookshelf had become a catch-all instead of a purposeful part of her room.
She felt overwhelmed, stressed, and like she couldn’t truly settle into the space.
My client asked for three things:
A quiet, functional morning routine where she could get dressed, apply makeup, and leave for work without disturbing her husband.
A way to store her cultural outfits, jewelry, and bangles so she could see what she had and enjoy wearing them.
A clean, peaceful bedroom where nothing felt cluttered or out of place.
Everything in this project centered around creating flow, purpose, and calm.
The closet was the heart of the project. My client has beautiful, varied cultural outfits, and I wanted her to be able to open her closet and instantly see what she owned.
I used tall fabric bins on the top shelf—one of my favorite solutions because it creates a clean, uniform look while maximizing vertical space.
Her hijabs were folded neatly and organized by color inside her dresser drawers so she can choose the perfect scarf in seconds.
Her closet lighting made a big difference—it allows her to quietly open the door in the early morning without switching on bright overhead lights.

This part was so fun and deeply personal.
We used small jewelry trays and clear organizers for her earrings, rings, and necklaces.
For her bangles, I used dedicated bangle holders that not only store them beautifully but also make choosing a set quick and effortless.
Everything is visible, accessible, and stylish.

Rather than a desk collecting random items, we turned it into a true get-ready corner:
Her makeup is organized in categorized bins.
Everything has a place and is easy to pull out quietly.
She can now sit down in the morning, do her skincare and makeup, and start her day with calm intention.

The bookshelf that wasn’t being used effectively became a grounded, functional feature of the room. We reset it with a mix of purposeful storage, curated items, and breathing space.

When everything was done, the room felt lighter. My client could finally see the corners of her space again. Her closet opens into a calm, organized display of outfits. Her jewelry shines. Her makeup corner feels like her own. And most importantly—she can get ready quietly, move smoothly through her routine, and leave for work without disrupting her husband.
She told me that it felt like a weight had been lifted off her shoulders—and that’s exactly why I love what I do.
This December, if you’re craving a sense of peace in your space too, I’d love to help you start fresh.
