ABOUT ME
I was born and raised in the Greater Toronto Area after my parents immigrated from the Caribbean in the late 70's. Currently I call Durham Region home.
Armed with a Bachelor's Degree in Business Administration and a major in Information Technology I started my career in 2005 as a Business Systems Analyst. In this role I transformed cluttered business requirements into streamlined processes using technology and automation.
When my career pivoted in 2012, I took on the Commercial Real Estate industry by using my gifts of management, organization, and process improvement. My experience in managing a diverse campus of buildings to running a province-wide planning program has sharpened my eye for finding efficiencies and opportunities where others see obstacles.
I am a mother and a wife who believes everyone can live in a space that is pleasing to the senses and reflects the heart of those who live there. Creating an environment of elegance, form and function by decluttering, categorizing and organizing is why I created Form and Function by Kira. I am excited to streamline your lifestyle and create a space customized for how you use it.
I sincerely believe form is found when space is made functional.

When it comes to getting organized, it’s easy to feel like you have to tackle everything at once. The overflowing home office, the kitchen cupboards that never seem to stay organized, the piles of paperwork that have accumulated over the years. Sometimes, the thought of addressing it all can be enough to keep you from starting.
But here’s something I’ve learned through my work as a professional organizer: you don’t have to organize your entire home to make a meaningful difference.
Sometimes, all it takes is a few focused hours in the right space.
This month, I’m sharing four smaller projects I’ve completed, each taking six hours or less. From creating a functional home office to bringing order to kitchen spices and important family documents, these projects are a reminder that even a small, well-planned change can make everyday life easier.
My most recent project was for a gentleman in Pickering who wanted to get his home office in order. His priorities were straightforward: clear the clutter from his desk, sort through the documents that had accumulated, and establish an organizing system he could maintain long after our session was over.
We worked through his paperwork, sorted and organized his documents, and created a more functional space where everything had a designated place. The goal wasn't simply to make the office look tidy. It was to create a practical system that would make it easier for him to find what he needed, keep his desk clear, and maintain order going forward.
And the best part? He was kind enough to share his experience in a video testimonial!
This is a great example of how a few focused hours can transform the way you use a space. A more organized office can mean less time searching for documents, less visual clutter competing for your attention, and a more productive environment to work in.
You don't necessarily need a new desk, additional storage furniture, or an elaborate filing system. Often, the biggest difference comes from making thoughtful decisions about what you keep, where it belongs, and how you'll use it.

I also worked with a client in Ajax who loves preparing traditional Cambodian dishes. As you can imagine, cooking a variety of dishes calls for an assortment of spices, seasonings, and dry ingredients.
Her collection was spread across three kitchen cupboards and a second kitchen in the basement, making it difficult to see everything she had and easily access the ingredients she needed.
Rather than simply rearranging the contents, we looked at how she cooks and how the space could better support her routine.
We decanted suitable dry goods into clear containers and labelled each one so the contents were easy to identify. We incorporated risers to improve visibility, lazy Susans to make items easier to reach, and clear bins to group ingredients together.
The result was a more functional setup where she could see what she had, access her ingredients more easily, and put things away without having to rearrange an entire cupboard.
Good kitchen organization isn't about having matching containers for the sake of appearances. It's about creating a system that supports the way you actually cook.
When every ingredient has a designated place and you can see what you have, preparing meals becomes more straightforward. You're also less likely to forget about ingredients tucked away at the back of a cupboard or purchase duplicates simply because you can't find what you already have.
Three cupboards might seem like a small area to tackle, but when they're used every day, improving their functionality can make a noticeable difference to your daily routine.

Paperwork is one of those things that can quietly spread throughout a home. A document gets put in a drawer for safekeeping, another ends up in a folder on a shelf, and something important is tucked away somewhere else entirely.
I worked with a client in Ajax whose family paperwork had become scattered throughout her home. With three children, including a child with special needs who had a variety of medical documents, along with paperwork for herself and her husband, there was a lot to bring together.
Her goal was to have the family's important documents organized in one central location using a system that would be straightforward to maintain.
We worked through the paperwork, sorted the documents into meaningful categories, and established a centralized system for the family.
For families managing medical information, school records, financial paperwork, and other important documents, having an organized system is about more than a tidy filing cabinet. It's about knowing where to look when you need something.
When information is scattered throughout the home, finding a specific document can become unnecessarily stressful and time-consuming. A centralized system gives family members a clear place to start and makes it easier to file new paperwork as it comes in.
The key is to create a system that makes sense for the people using it. It needs to be intuitive enough that everyone can follow it, rather than something so complicated that maintaining it becomes another task on an already busy schedule.
Sometimes, organizing isn't about creating more space. It's about creating clarity, accessibility, and peace of mind.

This final project takes me back to the very beginning of my professional organizing journey. It was my first project, in Brampton, offered as a special three-hour walk-in closet transformation when I launched Form and Function by Kira.
As a first project, it was a valuable learning experience and an opportunity to put my approach into practice. We made progress within the time available, but it also taught me something important about the way I want to approach closet transformations moving forward.
A walk-in closet may seem like a relatively straightforward space to organize, but there's more to it than moving clothing around and finding a place for everything.
There's the editing process: deciding what to keep, what no longer serves the client, and what deserves a place in the space. There's the question of how the client gets dressed, what they reach for most often, and how frequently used items should be positioned. And there's the opportunity to consider storage solutions that make the most of the available space.
Given the chance to approach this type of project again, I'd allow more time to work through those decisions thoughtfully and, where appropriate, explore products that could improve the closet's functionality.
The lesson? An organized space should be designed around the person using it, not simply the number of hours available to complete it.
I'm grateful for that first experience because it helped shape how I approach projects today. My goal is to create spaces that are not only organized at the end of a session but also functional, considered, and practical for the long term.

Looking at these four projects, it's clear that there isn't one definition of what it means to get organized.
For one person, it's finally having a clear desk and a reliable place for important documents. For another, it's being able to find the right spices without searching through multiple cupboards. For a busy family, it's knowing exactly where to find the paperwork they need.
And sometimes, it's making a start on a space you've been wanting to tackle for a long time.
What these projects have in common is that each one began with a specific need. We identified what wasn't working, made decisions about what belonged in the space, and created systems designed to support the client's everyday life.
That's what professional organizing is really about. It's not about making your home look perfect or buying a collection of beautiful storage products. It's about making your spaces work better for you.
And with the holiday season approaching, now is a great time to address one of those smaller projects you've been putting off. You don't have to overhaul your entire home before the end of the year. Start with the space that's causing you the most frustration.
Have a small organizing project you'd love to tackle before the holidays?
Whether it's your home office, kitchen cupboards, paperwork, closet, or another area that's been weighing on you, I'd love to help you create a space that feels more functional and manageable.
